Play Therapy

Play Therapy

Play Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses play as a medium for children to express themselves, process emotions, and work through challenges. In a safe and supportive environment, children use toys, games, storytelling, and imaginative play to communicate what they may not yet have the words to say.

Guided by a trained play therapist, the sessions are tailored to the child’s individual needs, allowing them to explore their experiences, build coping skills, and develop a stronger sense of self. As play is such a natural and familiar process to children, it serves as a developmentally appropriate medium for them to explore difficult feelings and experiences more indirectly, which can feel less intimidating than direct conversation.

Play Therapy is especially effective for children dealing with anxiety, trauma, behavioural issues, grief, or family transitions, and it provides a foundation for long-term emotional resilience.

Sandplay Therapy

Sandplay Therapy is a specialised form of Play Therapy that uses a tray of sand and miniature figures to support emotional expression, insight, and healing. In this safe and symbolic space, clients of all ages -- children, adolescents, and adults -- are invited to create scenes or stories in the sand, often revealing inner experiences that may be difficult to express in words.

This approach can be especially helpful for those processing trauma, anxiety, grief, or emotional overwhelm. The therapist offers a supportive presence without directing the process, allowing the imagery and symbols to unfold naturally.

Through Sandplay Therapy, individuals can gain deeper self-awareness, emotional clarity, and a renewed sense of balance and control within a reflective environment.
