Music. As Therapy
Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music as a modality in intervention for clients with problems related to cognitive, social, emotional or physical-motor and sensory skills in life. It allows for engagement of all senses, focused attention, memory and emotional regulation.
Common presenting issues that may be suitable for music therapy are pre or post medical treatment, trauma, loss and grief, visual / hearing impairment, mental illness, developmental disorders or deficiencies. Clients considering music therapy as a form of therapy need not have musical skills in any instrument.
